It was May 2010 when I, Marco Bertini Chef and Founder of MadeInItaly, first arrived in Labuan Bajo, Flores, Indonesia.

Discovering the beauty and the natural paradise of Komodo National Park inspired me during a stay in this small fishing village to bring Italian authentic cooking traditions to this secluded area.

EVERYTHING STARTED FROM HERE.

The days I had the feeling that this little fisherman village would have potential for something more, when no asphalt was on the roads, when expats living in town could be counted between two hands, when only five dive center were operating, when the harbour was empty of boats and so many others i could add.

Passion – Dedication – Consistency. Those are the most important point to achieve results. Trying to transmit this to all my staff in this little fishermen village, that is slowly becoming an important spot for Indonesia and the world. We always do our best, no matter what, to serve you better and I, Marco, personally want to thank you again and again all of you to have given us the trust since the day one. 

The purpose of our cooking is in fact dedicated to achieving two objectives, the qualitative one and the gastronomic one. All stages of the process are to obtain and serve you a genuine product following Italian traditions and culture.

Lots of time passed, studying, on the stove, in the laboratory and now MadeInItaly has a totally different face compared to when has born but The Roots, are and will be always the same. Quality for me is not and adjective but a statement for commitments and I am proud to share this with you.

Established in 2023, Bertini Artisan Baking is a project that has long been on my timeline. Located right in front of MadeInItaly, my bakery is the first artisan baking establishment on the island.

Here, I present carefully crafted classic and signature Italian breads and pastries, perfected through countless hours of dedication and culinary expertise. Each creation reflects my unwavering commitment to quality and tradition.

“I’m very attached to the traditions of my Tuscany where I am born and grew up and it’s from those roots how I craft the best result of my creations. 

We don’t just serve food, we create Memories.”

I make everything from scratch, from my heart and extreme Passion for this profession, to the highest standards. From the innovative creation of new menus to the beautiful presentation of each dish, with dedication I select consitently the freshest ingredients that local markets can offer and the premium Italian ingredients present in the country.

Very nice Italian restaurant just a little outside of the main tourist area. They offer free pick up and drop off service which is good.We tried the seafood pasta and Gorgonzola pizza, both were fantastic. The pizza crust was made well. We enjoyed our dinner here. The staffs were all helpful and friendly .Price was on higher end but it is value for money

We were with three families at Made In Bali, because the kids wanted to eat pizza. While there were some positive aspects, there's room for improvement in several areas…The Gnocchi al Gorgonzola stood out as a highlight for me, with excellent consistency and flavor. The presentation of the dishes was appealing, and the pizza, when it finally arrived, had good taste.However, there were some challenges that affected the overall experience… The pacing of the meal was problematic, especially for a larger group with children. It's unfortunate that most adults finished their main courses before the children's pizzas were served.The audio system could use some adjustment, as the bass was overpowering and the speakers struggled to handle it effectively. For me this impacted the ambiance of the restaurant.There were some discrepancies between expectations and what was served. The Chitarra (lobster pasta) actually contained crayfish, and portion sizes for some dishes, like the salmon cake pasta, were smaller than anticipated. The pizza, while tasty, unfortunately arrived cold with a very hard crust.The reusable table tissues are an eco-friendly touch, but their odor was noticeable and detracted from the dining experience.Given these factors, the price point doesn't seem to align with the overall quality and experience provided. While there were some enjoyable elements to the meal, the combination of issues makes a return visit unlikely.​​​​

A nice Italian restaurant in Labuhan Bajo. We had homemade pasta, and it was really delicious. The tiramisu was good but a little bit too soggy/a bit wet. We prefer firm mascarpone. The restaurant offers free pick-up and delivery service.
